Anneliese Annie Gaffey , March 15, 1936 — May 26, 2019

Anneliese “Annie” Gaffey (Hunecke), 83, of Jersey City, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 26, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family. Annie was born in Imsbach, Germany on March 15, 1936. She met her husband Edward William Hunecke who was a proud member of the U.S. Airforce and stationed in Germany.

They married in 1956, and moved to Jersey City in 1957, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She remarried John Gaffey in 1983. Annie was an avid gardener.

She loved conversation and was known for inviting friends and family over to talk to and cook for them. She was an extremely caring, giving and selfless person. Annie was the devoted mother of: Monica Whalen of Brick; Lorraine De Tomasso and her husband Philip of Bayonne; Charlotte Holowienka and her husband Raymond of Bayonne; Marisa Hunecke of Jersey City; Robin Brett and her husband James of New Providence; Kenneth Hunecke of Brick, Suzanne Hunecke (Nick) of Jersey City; Edward Hunecke and his wife Nicole of Hardwick.

She was the beloved grandmother of: John, Darrin, Louis, Tiffany, Matthew, Andrew, James, Kaylee, Caroline, Patrick, Ava, and Jake. Cherished great-grandmother of: Alyssa, Benjamin, Valin, and Marcellus. Annie was the loving wife of the late Edward William Hunecke and John Gaffey, and the devout best friend of the late Olga Riotto.

A visitation for Annie will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the RIOTTO FUNERAL HOME & Cremation Company, 3205 John F. Kennedy Blvd. , Jersey City, NJ 07306 (For GPS use parking lot entrance address:14 Stagg St., Jersey City). Funeral services will begin on Friday, May 31, 2019, at the funeral home (Time to be announced soon) followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Aloysius Church, Jersey City (Time to be announced soon).

Entombment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Annie’s name to the American Heart Association (www. Heart.
