Annie’s Obituary Annie Shaw Lamond, 92, died peacefully Monday, Dec. 3, 2018. Annie was the daughter of Robert and Ada Shaw.

Annie was born in Clyde, GA, on Jan 5, 1926. She spent her young childhood in Clyde (now Fort Stewart). When Clyde became Fort Stewart, her family was displaced to Ways Station (now Richmond Hill).

She completed the Clyde School through grade 7 and started 8th grade at Ways Consolidated School (now Richmond Hill High School). She completed her high school during the summer of her 11th grade, 1943. She attended Armstrong Junior College one year before transferring to Georgia Southern in 1945 and graduating in 1952 with a degree in education.

Annie started her teaching career at Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, Georgia in 1947 with a provisional teaching certificate. She continued to attend Georgia Southern on weekends and summers and completed her Bachelor’s in teaching from Georgia Southern in late summer of 1942. Annie started teaching elementary students at Richmond Hill School September 1952 and continued teaching through 1981, 31 years of service.

Annie was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, GREA, and NARFE. She was a charter member and lifelong attendee of Richmond Hill United Methodist Church. She was a faithful child of God and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Daniel Lamond, and brothers, Robert Shaw Jr, Edwin and Graham Shaw and sisters, Ada Shaw Martin and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Shaw. She was a loving mother of two daughters, Chris Lamond Fountain and Nell Lamond Huggins;. She was grandmother to four grandchildren Daniel Gilmore, Gayle Gilbert, Jason Fountain, and Mary Breazeale, and three great-grandchildren Nathan Gilbert, Kelly Gilbert and David Gilbert.

Niece and nephews, William Martin, Carol Smith, and Andrew Martin. Numerous great nieces and nephews. The visitation is Thursday December, 6th at 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Clyde Chapel followed by the funeral service at 5 p.m. with Reverends Jay Tucker and Dr. Johnathan Smith and officiating.
