Anthony E.’s Obituary Anthony “Tony” Nocella, born July 21, 1927, passed away on May 18, 2019. He was 91 years old. Anthony was the beloved husband of 68 years to Grace Nocella (nee Jackson).

He was the loving father of Barbara (Thomas) McLaughlin, Joseph (Cecilia) and the late Virginia (Charles) Lope. Devoted grandfather of Charles (Elana) Lope, Anthony (Krista) Lope, Nicholas (Deanna) Lope, Matthew (Jessi) Nocella, James Nocella, Laura (Jason) Snyder and Thomas (Lisa) McLaughlin. Great grandfather of Madison and Frankie Lope, Charles Lope IV and Luke Snyder.

He is also survived by his brother, Frank (Catherine) Nocella; cousins, Joanna (Pat Panetta) Small and Carol (Kurt) VonColln and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony is predeceased by his sisters, Anna Candello, Mary Serpente and Lena Palmer. Anthony was born to Amelia Ciccolella and Lauterio Nocella in Philadelphia, PA.

He lived in the area of 9th and South Streets until he married, then moving to North Philadelphia. In 1999, he moved to Haddonfield, NJ. After serving in the Army, Tony worked installing oil burners.

For most of his working life he worked as a first mate and later captain on the tug boats on the Delaware River. He worked for a variety of companies including the Reading Railroad, Miley, Tyler and Anderson and McAllister. Immediately prior to retirement, Tony worked as a maintenance employee at the Philadelphia International Airport.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 820 Haddon Ave. , Collingswood, NJ. Prayer Service will follow at 11:30 AM.

Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Interfaith Caregivers, 242 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.
