OBITUARY ANTHONY RIORDAN Sr. November 6, 1935 – December 3, 2018 PORTLAND: Anthony Francis Riordan, Sr., age 83, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Anthony was born on November 6, 1935, in Boston, MA a son of Thomas and Grace (Janvrin) Riordan. Anthony was educated in South Boston and graduated from Gate of Heaven School in South Boston.

After high school, Anthony attended Boston University night school and received his degree in business management. Anthony worked for the Royal Globe Insurance Agency in Boston where he met his wife of 53 years, Judith-Ann Boyce of Bath Maine. Together Anthony and Judith-Ann raised their three sons in Lisbon Falls, where Anthony worked as a High-Risk Casualty Manager at Dunlap Insurance Agency in Auburn Maine.

Anthony was an extremely proud Mason, and president of the Lisbon High School hockey boosters where he kept time and announced during Lisbon High School hockey games at the Central Maine Youth Center. He was also active in the Lisbon Junior Athletic League, serving on the board, coaching Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. Anthony was a member of Apple Valley Golf Course for many years and participated in many bowling leagues at the Lisbon Bowling Center along with his wife Judy.

Anthony loved to play horseshoes and spent many hours playing in his homemade pits, along with building an ice rink in his backyard for his sons and neighbors. Anthony had a passion for making Lisbon landmarks out of matchsticks, including the old Saint Mathews Church, The old Lisbon School House, the old Rail Road station, and Franks, just to name a few. Some of his work was donated to the Lisbon Historical Society.

Anthony’s other passion was following Notre Dame and Boston College football. He loved the Fighting Irish and the Eagles. He also had the best lawn in the neighborhood for many years.

He was very particular about his green grass, something he enjoyed immensely. Anthony loved to sing, and as a child, he and his brothers and sisters appeared on many radio shows in Boston, singing many songs including the M1 Safety Squad song. Anthony will be sorely missed by his surviving sisters Mary Lucier, Birtha Sharpe, Gloria James, Elizabeth (Betty) Lucier; sons; John Riordan and wife Diana, Anthony Riordan Jr. and , fiancé Karen Brown; Daughter Barbara Riordan; Grand Children, Brandon Riordan, Kelsey (Riordan) Fish, Siobhan Marie (Riordan) Murtiff, Rose Pelati, Helen Camia, Courtney Riordan, Shauna Riordan, Ryan Riordan, Chandler Riordan, Conner Brown, Keegan Brown, Jared Leduc, Olivia Leduc and Kenneth Leduc Harris: Great Grandchildren, Kevin and Briana Murtiff, Carson Fish, Ella and Clara Camia, and Lily Nycz.

Anthony was predeceased by his wife, Judith-Ann Riordan, son, Michael Paul Riordan, his parents, Thomas and Grace Riordan of Boston. His sisters, Eileen Sallon, Viola Parker, Grace Hurley, Thelma Cuddy, Rita Hartigan, Lorraine Jackson, and Brothers, Paul Riordan, William Riordan, and Thomas Riordan. The family wishes to thank the Lisbon Police Department and Lisbon Emergency for being there for Dad in his time of need the past year and a half.

We also would like to thank Danielle Martin, Samantha Leet, and the wonderful staff at the Special Care Unit of Maine Medical Center for making Dads last few days comfortable.
