Obituary for Antoine Marie Fukuda Antoine “Marie” Gascon Fukuda, of Honolulu, beloved wife, sister, hanai mom and aunt, passed away September 4, 2018 at the age of 62. She was born in Puunene, Maui on January 27, 1956, and was the second of six children born to parents Angel Sagadraca and Theresa Lillian Gascon Sagadraca. She attended Kauluwela and Fern Elementary Schools, graduated from Farrington High School, and received her Certified Nursing Assistant Associates degree from Kapiolani Community College.
After achieving her CNA degree, Marie began a 30-year career as a nursing assistant at Tripler Army Medical Center, where she was a psychiatric nurse’s aide and did consult management until she began her plans to retire. Marie was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. One of the most important events in her life occurred on January 27, 2007 at Moanalua Gardens when she married the love of her life, Wade Takeo Fukuda.
She was kind, loving and willing to help all with whom she came in contact and was influential in that she always lit up the room with her presence. While growing up, Marie enjoyed going to football games. Family was very important to her, and she always attended the graduations of her nieces and nephews.
Anything to do with family, she was always there. Marie worked very hard to provide a life for herself and her family. Always striving to look her best, Marie enjoyed having her nails and hair done.
She also loved to go jade shopping, and enjoyed listening to Hawaiian and Reggae music. She is survived by husband, Wade Takeo Fukuda; brothers, Tony (Chading) Gascon, Bernabe Rafanan, James (Wendy) Rafanan, Jon Liva and Jaison Awana; sisters, Tina (Jodi) Kwon, Candy (Pasquale Joseph) Decunto, Nioi Kalua-Heleloa; hanai son, Masa Cabalar; hanai daughter, Destiny Ader; nieces, Shami Rafanan and Nikki Kim; multiple Nieces, Nephews, Grandnieces and Grandnephews. A Celebration of Life for Marie will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary.
