Archie’s Obituary Archie C. Riach, 83, of the Town of Pine Lake, passed away on Saturday morning, May 18, 2019 at his residence and with his daughter at his side. Archie was born in Rhinelander on Sunday, June 30, 1935, the son of Charles A. and Gertrude (Fish) Riach. He was a graduate of Rhinelander High School.

Archie enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving his country during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany. He met his future wife there and on August 17, 1957 in Wurzburg, Germany Archie was united in marriage to Helga D. Sethmacher.

The couple relocated to Waukesha, Wisconsin where they would live for the next thirty years. While living in Waukesha, Archie was employed at International Harvester Foundry and retired as a Supervisor. The couple returned to Rhinelander in the 80’s.

Archie was then employed with Oneida County, driving the Senior Bus for ten years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, home improvement projects, his dogs, staying fit by walking, but most of all Archie loved dessert! He is survived by his daughter; Bruni Gross (Christopher J. Bliss II) of Atlanta, Georgia, his four grandchildren; Angela (Roman) Mercer, Joseph “Bucky” Gross, Sara (Charles) Thornton, and Jackie (Chris) Hopper, his five great-grandchildren; Eli Giddens, Haylie Hopper, Kiley Thornton, Skylar Hopper and Lily Thornton, sister; Cleo (John) Hollingsworth of Waterford, Wisconsin, Sr. Carla Riach O.S.F. of Arizona, Mary (Ron) Dervetski of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Beverly Johns of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Helga D. Riach on December 23, 2007 and one sister; Kathy (Duane) Lammert. The visitation for Archie will be held on Friday evening, May 24, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Hildebrand Funeral Home.

A second visitation will be held on Saturday afternoon, May 25, 2019 at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service. Immediately following the service there will be a procession to Northland Memorial Park for the committal service and where the presentation of the American Flag will take place. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in memory of Archie be made to either Ascension At Home Hospice, 111 E. Davenport St., Rhinelander, WI 54501 or to Oneida County Humane Society, 1852 N. Stevens St., Rhinelander, WI 54501.
