Obituary for Ardewin “Ardie” Duane Hirsch Ardewin (Ardie) D. Hirsch left this world on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11:15 a.m. at his residence. Ardie was born to Sam and Rose (Schroeder) Hirsch on September 23, 1934 at their farm home in Fessenden, North Dakota. They later moved to Lacombe, Canada where Ardie attended school until the beginning of the 9th grade.

He started working at a hometown bakery and he then left Canada and moved to Havre, MT and got a job at Eddie’s Bakery. He met Annie Basorttie and they were married, they moved to Great Falls, MT, where their son David was born. They then moved to Anaconda in 1961 and made their home and he worked at Safeway until it changed hands and became Albertson’s, he worked there for 20 years.

He then began working at Lockett’s Bakery in Butte and he retired after 21 years there. Later, he started a part time job as a bartender in what he called an adult babysitting service. He continued to bake at home until 2 months before leaving us.

He was very loved and a friend with everyone. He will be missed by everyone. He had a wicked sense of humor and he enjoyed telling jokes and stories.

Ardie is survived by his better half, Nita Ritthaler, Anaconda, stepdaughters, Betsy Turton and Katrina (Justin) Turk both of Great Falls, MT; Mary (Tim) Gonzales (TN), grandkids, Mercedes, Cayden, Dani, Haley and Howie, sister, Shirley Toop, Edmonton, Canada, sister-in-law’s, Delia Hirsch, Fargo, ND; Luanne Hirsh, ID; nieces, Shelly Hoke, Edmonton, Canada and her son Connor, Fern and Stephanie Toop, Saskatoon, Canada; Kathy Robertson (AZ); nephew Fred and Marcie Toop, Edmonton, Canada; great-nephew Brandon and Dana Toop (MD) and lots of cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Annie, son David, brothers, Marvin and Kyle, niece Carol and son-in-law Joe Toop. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Chapel in Anaconda.
