“Aunt Baby” Mother Argrett Colbert was born May 22, 1922 in Paris Texas, she was the fourth of six children born to the late Deacon Roy Andrews and Missionary Cora Andrews. She attended school in Jonestown, Oklahoma. She was blessed to live 96 years and was the last of her siblings, Willie, Sam, Calvin, Argrett, and Charlene.

On May 25, 1940, she married Ainsley Colbert, and in 1941 they relocated to Chandler, Arizona. To this union one son was born, Theophus. She had a special bond with one niece Tommesine Black, and a nephew Arthur “Chuck” Draper Sr who proceeded her in death.

Mother Colbert’s parents raised their children to fear and love the Lord. She often shared fond memories of the Andrews singing quartet named, “The Harmonizing Four”, she and her siblings traveled by horse and buggy, and at times her dad used the farm owner’s truck. They traveled throughout Texas and Oklahoma singing songs of Zion.

She proudly shared childhood stories about their family activities, games, and her parent’s cooking contests. In the early 1950’s she made Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church her home church, where she formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher, and on the board as a Treasurer, she also participated in mission.

One of the highlights of her life is when she was given a surprise 90th birthday party and she received an honorary diploma, and a letter from President Obama. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Theophus, one grandson, Dupree, one granddaughter, Regina, five great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, and a special niece, Tommesine who she treated like her daughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
