Arlene I. Hughes, 97, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Arm Brook. She was born in Pomfret, VT to the late Walter and Isabelle (Adams) Wilson and attended Vermont Schools. Arlene was employed by Steiger’s in Westfield for over 20 years retiring in 1985 as a department manager.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was a member of the Southwick Grange and the Southwick Historical Society. Arlene was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, George H. Hughes in 2004, and a loving daughter Janet L. Knoblauch in 2009. She leaves two daughters, Joan E. Benoit of Blandford, MA and Kathleen A. Hughes of Arundel, ME, and her cherished ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and her great great granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held in the spring in New Cemetery, College Highway, Southwick. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085.
