Arthur Charles Wold, 81, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Sunday night, December 9, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay with his family at his side. He was born July 9, 1937 in Chicago, IL, the son of Arthur Charles Wold II and Helen Eleanor (Przybyla) Wold. Arthur attended Foreman High School in Chicago and then enlisted to serve his country with United States Air Force in March of 1955.

He was primarily stationed out of Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, MI. Arthur was medically retired from service in June of 1958. He married Penelope Harriet Holda on October 4, 1958 at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Catholic Church in Chicago.

Arthur worked at various places throughout his life – initially as a mail guard with U.S. Railroad Postal Service, but his primary employment was with the United States Federal Aviation Administration as an environmental technician at the Chicago Air Traffic Control Center in Aurora. He worked hard to support his family throughout his life, all while living with (chronic) cluster migraines. Arthur was finally able to relax a little (physically) during retirement.

He and Penelope moved to Door County, WI in 2010 and made their home in Sturgeon Bay. Arthur had a passion for art, especially oil painting. He enjoyed painting portraits of family, abstracts, and still life.

Arthur and Penelope took lessons and passed their Coast Guard boating safety course to spend time sailing on the lake on a sailboat he purchased. His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, Penelope of Sturgeon Bay, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage; three sons and one daughter, Michael Wold of Sturgeon Bay, Danielle Wold of St. Charles, IL, Eric Wold of Tampa, FL, and Jason Wold of West Chicago, IL; five grandchildren, Daniel and Jeremy Roberg, Nicole Wilkerson, Catara Roach, and Samuel Wold; five great-grandchildren, Levi, Wyatt, and Margot, Carter, and Lanie Penelope; sister, Rosemarie Kling of Merrilan, WI; and brother-in-law, MacArthur (Donna) Holda of Houston TX. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Peggy Wold-Clark.

No public services are scheduled to be held at this time. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles, IL at a later date. “Our family would like to thank the staff of Door County Medical Center and St. Vincent Hospital for the excellent care given to Arthur”.
