Arthur John Price, Sr., 98, of Saegertown, formerly of Meadville and Guys Mills, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Crawford County Care Center. Arthur was born in Meadville, on June 17, 1920, a son of the late James (Jabez) and Lilian Dunkee Price. On July 16, 1946 Arthur married Betty Mae Holcomb; she preceded him in death on February 14, 1997.

Arthur was employed as an electrician at the former Avtex for many years; he also did farming in the 1950’s. A WW II veteran, Arthur entered the US Army on February 17, 1941 and served his country honorably until his discharge on October 10, 1945, having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was a participant of the Normandy Invasion as well as the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with five Bronze Service Stars. Arthur loved gardening and grew wonderful vegetables and beautiful flowers. One of his favorite places to be was on his lawn tractor.

Arthur will be sadly missed. Arthur is survived by five children Kathleen Brown (Richard) of Meadville, Arthur J. Price, Jr. (Jolane), Walter G. Price (Linda), Alfred P. Price (Lorraine) all of Saegertown, Sandra Leonard of Holyoke, MA; 17 grandchildren Robert Stevens, Jason Stevens, Mark Price, Eddie Price, Craig Price, Jennifer Smith, Drew Price, Mariah Ray, Ian Price, Denise Allshouse, Danny Glass, Donny Glass, Diane Glass, Tina Ferguson, Natalie Bys, Connie Bray, Jimmy McCracken; a son in law Sam Pero of Greeneville, TN; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Jerry Price and special niece Judy Kuhn (Bill) both of Erie. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Betty, of 50 years, Arthur was preceded in death by a daughter Carole Pero, a granddaughter Megan Hemlock, a sister Betty Pierce, three brothers Burnie Price, Walter Price, Albert Price and a son in law Jack Leonard.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 11:30 AM-2:30 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. , 404 CHESTNUT ST. , MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM with Rev.

Jerry Walton, Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will follow. Arthur will be laid to rest next to his wife, Betty, in Greendale Cemetery.
