I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help……We stand in sorrow with the Downing family to announce the earthly transition of Mr. Arthur Vernon Downing, Sr., age 96 of 1919 Mill Road, Jamesville, NC. Arthur transitioned on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Martin General Hospital, Williamston, NC. It has been the written request of Mr. Downing, that no services be held at the time of his departure and as we uphold this solemn request, we simply ask that you keep this family in your prayers.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three children, Beverly Marks of Phoenix, AZ Arthur V. Downing, Jr., (Kim) and Jacqueline Downing of Philadelphia, PA; eight grandchildren; eighteen grandchildren; and a special caretaker, Hazel Downing, Jamesville, NC. Final Care and Compassionate Services are being expressed to the Downing and connected families by the Mitchell Funeral Care and Cremations, Elizabeth City.
