Atiba “T-Bone” Diallobee Macharia Shropshire passed away at home on November 22, 2018 at the age of 43. Atiba is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Eddie James Shropshire, his father James Andrew Shropshire, his maternal grandfather Raymond Cooke Sr, and maternal grandmother Peoria Mae Shropshire (Clarke). Atiba is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 8 years.

They were married in Mitchellville, MD at Newton White Mansion on April 30, 2010. Atiba is lovingly remembered by his three daughters Kumari L. Shropshire, Brielle E. Shropshire and Ariel A. Shropshire of Laurel, MD. His mother, Ms. Cheryl W. Shropshire of Washington, D.C. His uncle Mr. Raymond Cooke Jr of Washington D.C., His aunt Ms. Vanessa Shropshire Ivey and paternal grandmother Ms. Mildred Shropshire of Lancaster, SC.

His mother-in-law Mrs. Pamela Wilkerson and Fathers-in-Law Mr. Vincent Wilkerson of Gordonsville, VA and Mr. Theodore Johnson Jr of Nokesville, VA. His sister Mrs. Ashaki Mitchell and Brother-in-law Mr. Steve Mitchell of Mt. Airy, MD.

His Sister-in-Law Mrs. Andrea R. Reed and Brother-in-law Mr. Chauncey Reed of Gardendale, AL. Nieces Sashalina Mitchell, Sagan Mitchell, and Katie Mitchell of Mt. Airy, MD.

Nephews Ashton Reed and Joshua Reed of Gardendale, AL and Bauer Mitchell and Ronin Mitchell of Mt. Airy, MD and hosts of extended family, cousins, friends, church members and co-workers. Atiba, or “T-Bone” affectionately called by his family, was born in Washington, D.C. on September 3, 1975.

Atiba graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School in 1995 receiving his diploma. He worked as a sewer service worker for DC Water for 23 years within the Sewer Services divisions of Construction & Repair, and Investigation & Maintenance. Atiba was a hard-working CDL driver, construction worker, stream cleaner, jet vacuum truck and Stetco catch basin truck operator during his tenure with DC Water.

DC Water was Atiba’s second family and home away from home. He was affectionately known by many names at DC Water’s O Street location, such as “chop chop” “pork chop” “Tee” and “Bone”. He was honored for his 20 years of service with DC Water in 2015 with an award.

Atiba enjoyed all types of music but especially jazz and “true” hip-hop artists. He was a huge Bob Marley fan as well. He loved to play Bid Whist and chess, watch movies and television shows, and he loved to eat!

He was known as the sauce man for he loved different sauces on his chicken! He also enjoyed basketball, roller coasters, collecting fine art work and coins, taking his children to the park and out for fun outings, family gatherings and traveling. Atiba was a family-oriented person and was blessed with a large and loving family whom he deeply treasured.

Atiba will be missed beyond measure but we find comfort in knowing he is resting in peace with God without pain and suffering. The celebration of life service will be held at The New Macedonia Baptist Church on 4115 Alabama Avenue SE, Washington D.C. 20019 on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11 AM with Reverend Patrick J. Walker officiating. Viewing at 10 AM.

Repast to follow at conclusion of service in the Fellowship Hall of The New Macedonia Baptist Church. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
