Audrey Marion Baumgardner, 89, of Emmitsburg, Maryland passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Ministries. Born near Keysville, Maryland, on July 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Marion (Koontz) Baumgardner; and sister of the late Wayne C. Baumgardner. After graduating from Emmitsburg High School in 1946 and Towson State College in 1950, Audrey taught 4th graders for 34 years – 10 years at Charles Carroll Elementary and 24 years at Thurmont Elementary.

Audrey enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and making floral arrangements. She loved baking ‘something sweet’ and traveled to many states and abroad with her brother or fellow teachers. She was an active member of Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church for most of her life, joining in many of their groups, including the WELCA and the choir.

Audrey was kind and compassionate to all people and animals. She will be lovingly remembered by many close cousins, especially Linda Knox. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 W. North Ave.

, Emmitsburg, MD with the Rev. Jon R. Greenstone officiating. Burial will follow in the Elias Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, December 17th at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Audrey’s name may be made to Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 465, Emmitsburg, MD 21727 or to the Frederick County Humane Society, 550 Highland St. #200, Frederick, MD 21701.
