Audrey Red Gallagher , September 13, 1911 — November 06, 2018

Audrey R. Gallagher, our dear and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died peacefully Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Sheffield Bay at the remarkable age of 107 years. She was born September 13, 1911 in Toronto, Canada to the late William J. and Sarah Ann (Freeborn) Robinson. Her family moved to Detroit for work with the Ford Motor Co and she attended Highland Park High School.

She also worked as a legal secretary for a law firm in downtown Detroit where she made $18 per week. Audrey’s dream was to be a model with aspirations of making it to Hollywood and becoming a star on the silver screen.

She appeared in numerous catalogs for Hudson’s Department Store throughout her career. Audrey loved going to see the Detroit Tigers games since her brother, who owned Hoot’s Bar across the street from Tiger Stadium, was friends of the ticket manager and often secured front-row seats behind first or third base. Audrey was one of those ladies who will be missed for her sensitivity, class, and an eye for fashion who people always loved.

On June 18, 1939 she married Edward Gallagher who preceded her in death on November 13, 1982. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Edward J. (Diane Powers) Gallagher II and Richard Gallagher. She was the beloved grandmother of Patrick B. (Kim) and Kerry E. (dec.

) Gallagher and two great-granddaughters, Fiona and Vivian Gallagher. She was the greatly-loved “chosen” grandmother of 8 additional young people. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of Audrey’s life will be held.
