Avonelle Rita (nee Kloss) Kiefner, age 90, of Manhattan, formerly of Joliet, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Born July 17, 1927 in Joliet. Attended A. O. Marshall and St. Bernards, Graduate of Joliet Township High School, class of 1945.

She was employed by Merritt-Chapman & Scott, Gerlach Barklow, and AT&T until her marriage in 1957. Member of the Caterpillar retirees club and the Will County Farm Bureau. Member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Manhattan.

She is survived… Read More » by five children, Diane (David) Scott of Cary, NC, David Kiefner of Manhattan, Janet (Richard) Galloway of Downers Grove, John (Sherri) Kiefner of Manhattan, and Paul Kiefner of Manhattan; seven grand-children, Kimberly (Nathan) Woods of Beaver Creek, MN, Andrew Scott of Cary, NC, Danielle (Matthew) Peterman of Mount Prospect and Tyler (Katie) Kiefner of Chicago, Kristine (Matthew) Zieman of Naperville, Emily (Mitchell) French of Chicago, and Erika Galloway of Downers Grove; three great-grandchildren, Steven Michael Woods, Avonelle Rosemarie Woods and Eliza June Peterman. Also survived by one sister-in-law, Rosemary Errek of Escondido, CA. Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert Kiefner, her parents, Andrew E. and Marguerite E. Kloss; her sister, Marguerite D. Kloss; her brother, Donald A. Kloss; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Stahl and Eleanor Kostelc; two brother-in-laws, William Errek and Donald Kostelc.

Visitation will be held at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, Manhattan, on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10:30 until 11:30A.M. Funeral service will on the same day beginning with prayers at 11:30 at the funeral home then going in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan for 12 Noon Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. John Lindsey officiating.
