Obituary for Ballard Arthur Smith Ballard Smith, age 84, of Rogersville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 2, 2018, following an extended illness. He was a son of the late Charles and Pollie Herron Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tena Renee Smith; and grandson, Johnny Ray Smith; and sister, Louella Smith.

He was a member of Spires Chapel Church and was saved as a young boy at Shelby Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He enjoyed boating, fishing, woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren, and helping others. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Bennie M. Smith; daughters, Dena Clonce and husband Larry, and Gilda Atkins; son, Chuck Smith and wife Becky; grandchildren, Dustin Alvis, Cory Alvis, Natasha Jones, Matthew Smith, Elijah Smith, and Connor Smith; great grandchild, Brandon Jones; brother, Claude Smith and wife Marjorie.

Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev.

John North and Rev. Ken Cradic officiating. The graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
