Barbara Ann Lewis was born on June 24, 1946 in Reidsville, North Carolina to Hunter and Hazel Louise (Fargis) Hall. She passed away on July 9, 2018 in Stroud at the age of 72. Barbara was a character and never met a stranger.

Within minutes of talking to her, you were smiling. She had a cockeyed grin and was always up to something. She had a way of making you feel special and like all of your troubles disappeared if only for a minute.

She was definitely a soft place to land. She loved Jesus, but cussed a little or lot, mouth of a sailor but the heart of a saint. If she had and you needed it, it was yours.

Her home was open to all and you always left her house with a full belly and heart. She loved to gamble and never passed up free play at the casino or a game of dob bingo. She lived for Saturday morning yard sales and sales at “Wally World”.

She had a funny way of always talking into a bargain. Her yard was her life. From flowers to decorating for every holiday.

She always took much pride in making it look nice. If she wasn’t driving the backroads looking for wildflowers to dig up, she was dragging main with her favorite tunes cranked up. She attended many churches over the years.

She loved praising the Lord with her hands held high. If there was ever a need, she did her best to fulfill it. From volunteering at the food bank to helping with Sunday School.

Her grandbabies were her pride and joy and she never passed up an opportunity to brag and show them off. No kid big or small left her home without a pocket full of candy. She was a devoted wife and mother.

She would go to the end of the earth for her children. Although some would say she and Bill had a love/hate relationship, they enjoyed and loved each other dearly. 54 years of chaotic marriage was not nearly long enough.

She would always say, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”. And she meant it. Nobody could hug your neck quite like she could.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Johnny Fargis, Kenny Krupke and Henry Krupke; survivors include her husband of 54 years, Troy William Lewis; sons, Michael Lee Fargis, Troy William Lewis Jr, Clifford Ray Lewis and his wife Crystal, daughter Kathy Ann Mosley; grandchildren Kayla and her husband Steven Garrett, Justin Lewis and his wife Ashley, Jaycee and her husband Thomas Johnson, Billy Lewis and his wife Cheyenne, Nicole Lewis, Deven Lewis, Zane Lewis, Jaxton Lewis, Kristal Shockley; great-grandchildren, Issac, Kelci, Spencer, Sage, Dustin, Molly, Blair; sister Rachel Krupke along with several brother and sisters in law; several adopted children as she was a mother and grandma to all who met her. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Davenport with interment to follow in the Davenport Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
