Barbara’s Obituary Barbara Ann Smith, 80, of Vero Beach and formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. She was born to the late Flora and Mathias Budd of Pittsburgh, PA, in 1938. Barbara graduated from Saint Michael High School on the South Side of Pittsburgh.

She was married to the late William R. Smith Jr. in 1956. They lived in Pittsburgh and Greenville, PA. Barbara relocated to Vero Beach, FL upon her retirement.

Barbara was a homemaker, raising 6 children. She worked for many years at Carl’s IGA in Greenville, PA and later worked for her brother at Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. Barbara was an active member of the Indian River Rocks, a “Kindness Project” group painting rocks meant to inspire and brighten people’s day.

She was also involved in activities at her apartment complex. She enjoyed crocheting, and made several afghans for her family. She was a huge NASCAR fan and her favorite driver was Tony Stewart.

She was both a Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins fan. She bowled in leagues in both Pittsburgh and Greenville with friends and family. She loved playing Bingo and going to the Casinos.

She also enjoyed going on cruises. She loved her cat Gem. Barbara is survived by her children William (Darla) Smith of Pittsburgh, PA; Jeffery (Shirley) Smith of Vero Beach, FL; Lynn (Bill) Beatty of Greenville, PA; John (Karen) Smith of New Kensington, PA; Darlene (David) Ficeti of Greenville, PA; and Christopher (Heather) Smith of Pittsburgh, PA.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Robert (Judy) Budd of Bluffton, South Carolina. There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, PA (323 Main Street, Greenville, PA 16125), followed by internment service at Shenango Valley Cemetery in Greenville, PA, on Saturday, May 18, 2019. A time of fellowship and celebration will follow in the meeting hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the VNA Hospice of Indian River County (1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960), or the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation at www.
