Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Barbara Ann Daly, age 83, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away February 21, 2019, at home surrounded by her family. Barbara was born July 7, 1935, in Woburn, Massachusetts to the late Henry O. and Anne Marie (Marquis) Van Gelder. She was preceded in death by her husband David G. Daly, whom she married June 8, 1957 at the Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Woburn, Massachusetts.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Henry (Marie); Victor and William (Mary) Van Gelder and her sister, Eleanor Van Gelder Doucette. She is survived by her children, Barbara M. Daly of Bellefontaine, Nancy (Richard) Brenner of St. Paris, Ohio, Victoria L. Daly of Dublin, Ohio and David W. Daly of the Woodlands, Texas; a granddaughter, Angelina Rose Brenner; her brother in law, Daniel W. (Patricia) Daly Jr. of Eden, North Carolina as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was a 1953 graduate of St. Charles Borromeo Girls High School in Woburn, Massachusetts and a graduate of the Catherine Labore School of Nursing in Boston Massachusetts.

As a Registered Nurse, she was licensed and worked in various states while traveling the country in support of her husband’s career and raising her family. Barbara was a woman of deep faith and a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine since 1992, when she moved with her husband to Bellefontaine. She served the church in many capacities including Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister and Director of Religious Education until her retirement in 2007.

As a Spiritual Director, Barbara was always happy to serve members of her community in times of need. She was especially proud of her role in the development and support of the young people of St. Patrick Parish and the Hispanic Catholic Community in Bellefontaine. Barbara treasured the relationships she developed in these roles.

She fulfilled a lifetime dream by making her definitive promises to the Discalced Carmelite Secular Order in 2016. The Carmelite Community provided her strength and comfort during her final illness. Family and friends appreciated her unwavering support and love throughout the years.

For a woman of her generation, her life was an example of continual growth and learning. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine. Reverend Shawn Landenwitch and Reverend Henry (Hank) Albietz concelebrating will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Friday, Friday March 1, 2019 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine.

Burial will follow the service at the Calvary Cemetery in Bellefontaine. Following the committal service, a meal will be served at the St. Patrick Church Makely Hall. The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
