Obituary for Barbara Annette Powell-Odom Barbara “Lil Bit” Annette Powell-Odom, 64, of Winston-Salem, peacefully transitioned from this life to eternal peace on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at PruittHealth in High Point, NC. She was born December 30, 1953 to James Powell and Daisy Allen in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Barbara, affectionately known as “Lil Bit,” was educated and graduated from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System.

Having a love for people, she ventured into the Hospitality field where she would become an inspector and executive housekeeping supervisor. During her earthly walk, Barbara was of the Baptist faith. Barbara’s daughter, Daisy Richardson and husband, Walter Lee Odom preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Daisy A. Shaw; daughters, LaVina Richardson, Jamilia Medley; her significant other, Donald McDowell; seven brothers: Archie (Cynthia) Powell, Anthony Powell, Jimmy (Jennifer) Reed, Jonny Reed, Kevin Reed, Tyrone Prince and Kenny Robinson; four sisters: Constance (Ralph) Broadwater, Katie (Mario) Moses, Cynthia (Alfred) McDowell, Victoria (Charles) Smith; two grandchildren, Emmanuel Crowell, Jr., Kenneth Alexander, Jr.; one great grand, Maleah Crowell and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00 PM Friday, September 28, 2018 from the chapel of Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem. Family visitation will be 2:30 PM until the hour of service.
