Obituary for Barbara Briskie Barbara Jean Vetrone Briskie, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Pine River on April 17th, 2018 surrounded by her children, family and friends. She was born on June 17th, 1953 to Eugene and the late Mary Vetrone, who also passed away just four weeks ago. On January 29th, 1972, she married her best friend, Robert Briskie.

They were married for 43 years before Bob passed away almost three years ago. Many memories were made together including many get-togethers with lots of smiles, shenanigans and laughter, along with abundant adventures with family and friends including many trips to Mexico, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Las Vegas, Tennessee, Colorado and the Dells. Barb starting working at an early age on the family farm.

She then started working summers shearing pines. In high school, she worked at A&W as a carhop in Wautoma and continued on at Sager Gloves in Berlin as a sewer. She then began working as an Executive Assistant at Mercury Marine in Oshkosh for several years.

Once Mercury closed the doors in Oshkosh, she started working in the medical field as an administrative assistant at CHN Home Health Care in Berlin where she worked until her children were out of high school. She then began working part time at Thedacare Medical Center in Waupaca as a registrar, where she ended her career and retired. Barb was blessed in her life with three wonderful children: Basil Briskie (Pine River), Brian (Liza) Briskie (Pine River) and Wendy Wyssbrod (Oshkosh).

Barb treasured each of her children. She created so many unforgettable memories throughout each of their lives that will forever be cherished. And although Barb had to wait longer than she wanted, eventually she was blessed with six amazing grandchildren with her first being twins: Dylan, Chloe, Aiden, Dominick, Trevor and Jeremiah.

These kids were grandma’s pride and joy. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and loved each one with her whole heart. Barb was also lucky to have a large and loving family and was oldest of seven brothers and sisters: Eugene (Lynda) Vetrone of Redgranite, Nancy (John) Schultz of Milton, David Vetrone of Berlin, Rosemary (David) Van Loo of Paris, TN, Lawrence (Paula) Vetrone of Camden, TN, Susan (Bob) Wright of Spokane, Wa and the late Ricky Vetrone along with in-laws James (Jean) Briskie of Fond Du Lac, Sharon (John) Sina of Brandon and Kathleen (Gerard) Garcia of Edison, NJ.

The memories and love Barb shared with her siblings and their families, throughout her lifetime was incredible and will never be forgotten. Also, Barb was extremely blessed with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and many amazing friends including Craig Wyssbrod, father of her twin grandchildren and someone she considered family; Vicky and Pete Libecki who came late into her life but loved and cared for her like they knew Barb her whole life; and Butch and Chris “Frost” Beck, who were both there for her for so many years and through to the end of Barb’s remarkable journey here on earth. Besides her family and friends, Barb had many different interests including gardening, sewing, scrapbooking, collecting and decorating with her antiques, planning parties and helping her husband manage his thriving tractor mechanic home business.

Barb had a charisma about her that made you want to love her. She was funny, loving, generous, strong, creative and had a heart of gold. Although it hurts massively to not hear her voice anymore, we know she has the peace she wanted.

I’m Free Don’t grieve for me, for now I am free I’m following the path God laid for me I took His hand when I heard him call I turned my back and left it all I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play Tasks left undone must stay that way I found that place at the close of the day If my parting has left a void Then fill it with remembered joy A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Ah yes, those things I too will miss Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine tomorrow My life’s been full, I’ve savored so much. Good friends, good times A loved one’s touch Perhaps my time seemed all too brief Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your heart and share with me God wanted me now… He set me free. Barb was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Briskie; her mother, Mary Vetrone; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Basil and Mabel Briskie and her brother Ricky A celebration of Barb’s wonderful life will be held on June 26th at 1pm at Bob’s Shop in Poy Sippi with lunch to follow (casual dress just as she would want).
