Stanfordville, NY – Barbara J. (Coffin) Ryan of Stanfordville died peacefully at home Sunday February 3, 2019. She was born August 26, 1929 in Lithgow, NY to parents Eugene and Jeanette (Harrison) Coffin. She lived in Stanfordville all her life, graduating from Pine Plains High School in 1947 and then marrying Erwin Ryan in 1948.

Barbara worked at Western Printing before becoming a stay at home mother and homemaker. She was an avid bird watcher and gardener who also loved books and puzzles. She enjoyed the simple life and was proudly independent, chopping her own firewood and mowing her lawn even at the age of 89.

She could often be found walking near her home with one of her many beloved dogs by her side. She found joy in and is survived by two daughters; Jodie Preuss of Clinton Corners, NY; Jaime Dillinger of Rhinebeck, NY, grandchildren; Jon Preuss of Big Sky, MT; Jenn Heath of Pine Plains, NY. She was most delighted by her great grandchildren; Lilah and Thomas.

She was predeceased by her parents and stepmother Harriet Coffin as well as two sisters June Coddington and Lois Hoffman, a son- in- law Thomas Preuss and many beloved family members. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 4 to 7pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Home located at 7749 South Main St Pine Plains. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Audubon Society 225 Varick St New York, NY 10014.
