Petruska, age 90, passed away on May 3rd, 2019, at the Aurora Medical Center, Summit, WI. She was born in Lake Mills on April 26th, 1929. Barb was raised in Lake Mills, graduated an L’Cat in 1947.

She went on to the University of Wisconsin majoring in education, and married her high school sweetheart, Bob Petruska. She and their children followed Bob’s high school teaching and coaching career to Waupun, Kaukauna, Brookfield and finally, Lake Mills. “Mrs. P” taught world history and sociology at LMHS from 1972 to 1988, and also coached Girls Track, which won the State Title in 1974.

Since retiring in 1988, Barb enjoyed her home on Rock Lake and frequent summer pontoon boat rides, and reading history and mystery books. She traveled overseas with family members to the UK, Italy and Egypt. Barb is survived by four children: Wendy (Steven) Steve, Scott (Liz) Petruska, Jayne Petruska, Gwen (Brent) Herring; eight grandchildren, Travis (Ashley) Steve, Kelly (Frank) Crump, Drew (Gwynn) Kibbe, Chad Steve, Beau and Denay Hering, and Samantha and Eloise Petruska; and four great grandchildren, Nikolas Orthner, Jaxon and Maebel Steve, and Nova Kibbe.

Per Barb’s request, her recent birthday party served as a celebration of her life. There will be no funeral services. www.
