Barbara’s Obituary Barbara Lou (Willavize) Brown, 83, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Barb was born on October 21, 1935, in Battle Creek, to Gaylord and Catherine (Abare) Willavize. She was the only girl of eight children.

Her surviving siblings are her brothers Larry and Jack Willavize. She was preceded by her brothers Russ, Leonard, Bob, Francie, and Dick Willavize. She was also preceded by her life companions Herman Phillips, Jack Mahoney, Tom Brown, and Elwyn “Al” Shattuck.

Barb is survived by her children Gaylord Phillips, Dolly (Ed Asher) Phillips and Barbara “BJ” Mahoney. She was blessed with eight grandchildren Jon Phillips, Tommy and Tanas Geleff, Chrystal, Jenna, and Sabrena Claywell, and Jared and Tyler Jacobs. She also leaves her great grandchildren Kelsey, Nevaeh, Saphera, Heaven, Ambria, KynLee, Tre’von, Alayna, and Samari.

Barb was a homemaker and her greatest pleasure was raising her family. She also loved music, especially playing guitar and dancing. Barb enjoyed gambling of all kinds including casinos, cards, bingo and the lottery.

She was fond of shopping at thrift stores, garage sales, and flea markets. She collected antique dishes and enjoyed crocheting. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, May 3, 2019 at Royal Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mayo Clinic or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
