Obituary for Barbara Carlson (Lilja) It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Carlson announces her passing, after a year of declining health, in the early morning hours Friday, August 24, 2018. Barbara was born in Natick Massachusetts, December 31, 1931 to Harry Lilja and Thyra Lilja (Jansson) of Dalsjofors, Sweden. The second youngest of seven siblings, and graduate of Natick High School, Barbara entered the work force and started her life long career in business.

She met and married her lifelong partner Robert V. Carlson of Arlington, MA on October 30, 1951, establishing a family and life in Natick, MA. After retiring from Bose, Barbara and Bob relocated to Kennebunk. Not one to sit back and wait for life to pass her by, Barbara started her second career as a successful and well-respected REALTOR in her new community.

Known for her feisty spirit, sense of humor and truthful tongue, she was loved by many. After the death of her beloved Bob in 2005, Barbara relied on the friendships in the community to keep her laughing. She was known for saying “I don’t want to go!

” in reference to her someday passing. She filled her days with traveling, golf and enjoying local restaurants. Barbara will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

She is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Thyra Lilja, her siblings Roy, Harold, Alice, Doris, George, Robert and her beloved Bob, Robert V. Carlson. Barbara is survived by her children Linda Carlson, Wayne Carlson and his spouse Nathalie Carlson, and former daughter in law Judith Carlson. Her grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Carlson Petrowski and her husband Walter “Varge”, Wayne Carlson and his wife Noemia, Ryan Carlson and his wife Xeulem “Shelley”, and Ashley Messner.

Great grandchildren Victor Carlson, Lennen Ewald, Camille-Blue Ewald, and Mackenzie Carlson. A Service and remembrance of life will be held at 12PM on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Bibber Memorial Chapel 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk ME. A reception to immediately follow, internment will be private.
