Barbara’s Obituary Barbara Virginia (Fredrickson) Jackson passed away Wednesday March 20, 2019 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi Michigan. Barbara was born May 13, 1931 in Hancock, the daughter of August and Mary Fredrickson. Barbara was a 1949 graduate of Hancock Central High School.

She then attended Milwaukee-Downer College in Milwaukee Wisconsin. On August 22, 1953 she married Kaye Donald Jackson in Hancock. Kaye was a pilot in the Air Force from 1958 until his retirement in 1976.

In these eighteen years Kaye and Barbara moved ten times and as such Barbara became quite proficient at relocating her family of six across the country and on two occasions across the world to the islands of Guam and Okinawa. Upon his retirement in 1976 Kaye and Barbara made their home in Northville Michigan. They then returned to the Copper Country in 1991 to make their home in Bootjack.

Barbara was very active in the Hancock All School Reunion and the Portage Hospital Auxiliary. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents August and Mary Fredrickson, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Ray and Lyda Jackson, her brothers Robert, Donald and Rudy Fredrickson, her sister Grace Fredrickson and her husband Kaye Jackson. Surviving are her four children, Heidi (Tom) Seel of Clarkston Michigan, Debbie (Jim) Soucek of Troy, Michigan, Tim of Brighton, Michigan, and Kelly (Chris) of St. Clair, Michigan; Grandchildren Alyssa and Adam Seel, Ryan (Hayley) and Dana Soucek, Hannah and Dylan Jackson, Kyle, Brad, Mitch and Sean Jackson; Great Granddaughter Sophia Soucek; daughters-in-law Michelle Vredenburg and Julee Lautzenheiser who were both with her when she passed; sister-in-law Janet Turpening (Roger), brother-in-law Raymond Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial will be held in August in Bootjack. Memorials are suggested in Barbara’s name in memory of her favorite dog Spike and numerous “granddogs” to the Copper Country Humane Society at PO Box 453, Houghton, MI 49931. Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home in Clarkston, Michigan is assisting the family with arrangements.
