Obituary for Barrett Glen Sutton Barrett Glen Sutton, 67 of Traverse City passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2018 at his home. Barrett was born on April 10, 1951 in Lansing to the late Justin Courser Sutton III and Barbara Barrett Sutton. After graduating from High School in Lansing, Barrett moved to Northern Michigan to attend school at NMC.

Here he earned his associates degree and later his teaching certificate. He taught for over 30 years with TBA Adult Work Center. He specialized in teaching special education and helped found Paperworks.

Following his retirement he continued to volunteer at Paperworks. He will be remembered for his love of tinkering, collecting antiques, working with wood and building things. He could always find a use for just about anything.

He loved his Harley’s and was the proud owner of two Harley Davidsons. He was a coach for Special Olympics for many years as well. Barrett had a great sense of humor and was always happy and supportive.

He will be greatly missed. Barret is survived by his daughters Erin (Michael) Corby of Portland, Oregon, Lauren (Marc) Francis of Grosse Pointe, MI, Channing (Blake Lougheed) Sutton of Suttons Bay and son Kienan (Lauren Zayac) Sutton of Maple City; granddaughter Molly Francis and her new sibling due in Nov; 12 granddogs; siblings Justin Courser Sutton IV of California and N.C., Tamara Sutton of Georgia, and Tyge Sutton of Lansing; 10 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. A memorial luncheon will be held at the Eagles on October 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
