Beatrice’s Obituary Beatrice Slade Ganter, age 75, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019. Beatrice was born on September 8, 1943 in El Dorado, AR. She was born to Ezekiel Thomas and Bessie Mitchell.

She grew up in Fordville, on Roselawn Street. Beatrice, as well as, most all the family attended Olive Branch Baptist Church. Beatrice married William Slade of Strong, AR and to this union three children were born, Bill Slade, Anthony Slade and Tonya Slade.

She later remarried Elbert Ganter of El dorado and to this union two children were born, Bessie Ganter and Elba Ganter. Her bonus children included Elbert Ganter Jr. and Valerie Ganter. She has a host of grandkids and great grandkids that will miss her dearly.

Beatrice was the “last” surviving member of the “Thomas” Family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Marshall, AT, and Curley and her sisters, Lola B, Gertie Mae, and Earshilean. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev.

Elbert Ganter; her daughter, Bessie Ganter and her step-son, Elbert Ganter Jr. Mom, it was a blessing to have you as a mother. You protected and nourished “us” to adult hood, and you put “us” first. It was an honor to take care of you these last 6 years momma.

Like I told you before you passed, you were “never” a burden on me! I cooked and cleaned for you daily as you did us. We became Road Dogs.

It hurts, but I am more at peace, because you told me with your “own” mouth, you were ready to leave. I wanted you to stay so badly, but I knew that I was just being selfish. Everyone who met you fell in love with your hearth and kind demeanor.

All your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, relatives and friends will miss you, and we will “always” love you. “See You On The Other Side”. Public visitation will be Saturday, January 19,2019 from 2:30-3:30 at Sims Mortuary.
