Obituary for Becky Jo Martin Becky Jo Raper was born in Bloomington, Indiana on April 26, 1956. She was the oldest child of Tommy Jo Raper and JoAnn Carol Raper (Vint) At 13, she moved to Tucson with her family. Becky later attended Pueblo High School where she enjoyed cheerleading and gymnastics.
Becky was quite the scholar and in 1974 she graduated as Valedictorian. After high school, she attended the University of Arizona and graduated with a Bachelors in Business. Her love for the Wildcats would fill her heart until the day she died.
In 1982 Becky met the love of her life, Steve Martin, after her car broke down and he offered to fix it. Who knew it would be the beginning of a very beautiful life together. Two years later they would marry at the Presbyterian church on 1st and Fort Lowell on April 4th, 1984.
Shortly after they would welcome their first Daughter, Emily Elizabeth Martin on November 9th 1984. While their family was small, they wanted more children. November 5th 1986, their second daughter, Amy Jo Martin, was born.
Becky worked full time and managed two crazy girls and in December of 1991 Becky found out she was pregnant again. The following year on August 6 1992, her only son Christopher Stevan Martin, was born. Making their family complete.
Over the next decade Becky would find her passion in Human Res. This gave Becky the opportunity to help others. Becky really enjoyed helping others and making people happy.
She would give you the shirt off of her back and feed you and if needed give you shelter. Becky loved her children more than any words can describe. She spent long nights helping with home work and making her kids feel loved.
Becky loved going to her kid’s soccer games, band concerts, and school plays and rarely missed any. She was and will always be their biggest fans. She spent many nights praying for the well-being of her family.
Becky also loved teaching the primary children in Sunday school. Her love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and teaching children God’s message and being around their joyful spirit’s is something she held close to her heart. After her children grew up she would finally get to spend time with her beloved husband.
He was her rock. She would often tell him he was her whole world. They enjoyed watching the Wildcats play basketball, Sunday football and NASCAR.
You could count on talking about Joe Montana on Sundays or Jeff Gordon anytime a race was on with Becky. She loved going to see, longtime family friend, Rich play the George Strait tribute in Oro Valley and absolutely loved going to the Races at TRP. In 2005, Becky was overjoyed with the birth of her First and only granddaughter Hailey Elizabeth Richardson.
On February 9th, 2012 her first Grandson Antonio Stevan Michenzi was born. Just two years later, her second Grandson Justin Tommy Rose was born on May 31st, 2014. Lastly, on November 20th, 2015 her youngest grandson Ethan Alexander Martin was born.
Nothing gave her more joy than her grandkids. She loved them so much. All you would need to do is look at her phone and walls.
Everywhere you look her grandkids are there. In late 2016 Becky began struggling with a multitude of heath issues and on December 4th, 2018 at 6:42pm she went home to her heavenly father while in the arms of her loving husband. She was surrounded by her children, family and friends.
Becky will always be remembered for her cheerful smile, amazing sense of humor and compassion for everyone who crossed her path. Her warmth and genuine disposition will never be forgotten. She will always be loved and cherished by those who had the great honor of knowing her.
Becky is survived by her husband of 35 years, Stevan Claud Martin, 2 brothers Mark and Mickey Raper and sister Brenda Raper, 2 daughters, Emily Elizabeth Richardson and Amy Jo Michienzi, her son Christopher Stevan Martin and 4 grandchildren, Hailey Elizabeth Richardson, Antonio Stevan Michienzi, Justin Tommy Rose and Ethan Alexander Martin. Proceeded in death by his parents, Tommy and Joann Raper. Services will be held Saturday December 15, 2018 at 10am at the LDS Northwest Stake Center 3530 w. Mcgee Rd.
