Beda M. Hinderer, 89, of Springfield passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 in her home. She was born December 4, 1929 in Au Train Township, MI the daughter of Carl and Marguerite (Helsel) Pierson. Beda was a graduate of Mather High School in Munising, MI and Maumee Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo as a Registered Nurse.

Beda was raised in Michigan’s UP on a farm, next to Lake Superior, with no utilities. She and Gary and returned each year and spent their summers at their “camp” on her old homestead. She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild, and Young Woman’s Mission.

Beda enjoyed traveling, gardening, knitting and hosting family dinners. She was an avid Bridge player in numerous Bridge Clubs. On a tour to Arlington National Cemetery, she and her sister, Donna were selected to place a wreath at the Tomb on the Unknown Soldier, which they considered a great honor.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gerhard J. “Gary” Hinderer; four sons and daughters-in-law Ken and Deborah Hinderer of Urbana, Tom and Kay Hinderer of Springfield, Douglas and Marilyn Hinderer of South Vienna and David and Vickie Hinderer of South Charleston; thirteen grandchildren Amanda Eldridge, Ross Hinderer, Christian Hinderer, Crystal Steiger, Amanda Borders, Anna Casey, Laura Hinderer, Brandon Elmore, Beda K. Hinderer, Boris Hinderer, Clint Hinderer, Halley Hinderer and Summer Fendley; eight great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Sarah Pierson of Munising, MI and Elizabeth Hower of Ruskin, FL; many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 – 6 PM.

in RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Beda’s life will Monday at 2:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with Rev.

Orbie Estep officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Beda’s name to Young Woman’s Mission or to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
