Barney, Vernon Dean, 80 of Springfield passed away Feb. 27, 2019 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Adams County, Ohio on July 20, 1938, the son of Earl and Icey Barney.

Vernon retired from the Cascade Corp. with 39 years of service and was a member of Northside Church of God. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, working puzzles, yard work, but most especially spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother and 2 sisters. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Cinda Barney; children Jerry (Debbie) Barney, Julie Oty and Jacki Barney; twin sister Jean Literal and Marie Boyd; grandchildren Jessica (Paul) Dolan, Jacob Adams, Veronica Bush and Travis Lunsford; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his fur buddy Toby. Services to honor Vernon will be Monday at 1:00 PM in the Northside Church of God, 3705 Middle-Urbana Rd.

, with Pastors Steve Smith and Charlene Hubbard officiating. Family and friends may call Monday from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM. Entombment to follow in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
