Obituary for Mr. Benjamin Raymond Straub Funeral services for Benjamin Raymond Straub of Oxford, AL. Passed away on October 1, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 4, 1939 in Shamokin, PA.

The son of the late Raymond and Marie Straub. He was the oldest of 6 siblings. On November 12, 1962 he married Irene Agnes Joachim in Germany while serving in the US Army.

They were married for 48 years until her death in 2010. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1979 and retired at the rank of Sargent First Class E 7. During his active duty time he was an Ammunition Specialist.

While serving in Vietnam he earned the Vietnam Service Medal, 7 Good Conduct Medals, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, an Army Commendation Medal and a Meritorious Service Medal. Upon retirement he became a truck driver and worked for several different companies and became an owner operator. He is survived by his 2 daughters; Ellen Wortham and Sherry Tavis, his 2 son in laws; William Wortham and Michael Tavis, granddaughter, Cassieopia Keller, grandson, William A. Wortham, granddaughter, Irene Varnedore and her husband Lucas.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 6, 2018, 11:00 AM in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. Bro. Donnie Wright will be officiating.

Burial will follow at the Wortham Family Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 PM till 8 PM at the funeral home. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mr. Benjamin Raymond Straub please visit our Sympathy Store.
