Bernard Andrew “Sonny” Kapinus, age 82, of Perryopolis passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Mon Valley Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on July 5, 1936, in Whitsett, PA a son of Andrew and Margaret Lucas Kapinus. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shelva Backos Kapinus; son, Chris Kapinus; sister, Betty Molnar.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Nancy Louise Greenwood Kapinus; son, Darren (Marla Olinzock) Kapinus; daughter, Patricia Symanski; grandchildren: Matthew (Kristen) Kapinus, Brandon Kapinus, Avery Matthews; great grandchildren: Easton, Quinn, Kemper; daughter in law, Denise “Sam” Kapinus. Sonny proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Perryopolis V. F. W., Star Junction Fish and Game and the Fayette City Masonic Lodge.

In honoring Sonny’s request there will not be any public visitation. A Celebration of Sonny’s Life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, PA. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Belle Vernon, PA where full military honors will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post Goldstar 7023 and American Legion Post 752.
