Bernard “Bernie” Dale Miller, 83, of Iowa Falls passed away Monday, September 10, 2018, at Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 15th at 2:00 P.M. with visitation 1 hour prior to services at Linn’s Funeral Home 1521 Washington Ave. Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Burial will be at Berlin/Jackson Township Cemetery in Owasa, Iowa. Bernard “Bernie” Dale Miller was born on May 31,1935, in Steamboat Rock, Iowa, the son of Ben S. Miller and Laura “Smit” Miller. He graduated from Steamboat Rock High School in 1953.

He attended 1 year of Ellsworth College and was then given the opportunity to farm. He married Lorraine Marlene Latch on February 14, 1955, at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church near Ackley, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Linda and Mark.

Bernard did not hesitate to shut down the combine to attend a child or grandchild’s sporting event. Bernie farmed until his retirement. They wintered in Texas.

He was first involved in fast pitch softball and then golf. Bernie was a member of the Owasa Methodist Church. He also was a member of Owasa Co-op (former Board of Directors) where he coffeed almost daily.

Bernard Miller is survived by his wife Lorraine Miller of Iowa Falls, Iowa, a daughter Linda (David) Harms of Middlebury, Indiana; a son Mark (Jan) Miller of Bemidji, Minnesota; grandchildren Ann Shaefer, Jessica Couillard, Andrea Miller, Zacharia Miller, and Alexandra Riley; 5 1/2 great grandchildren; and a brother Melvin (Carol)Miller of Georgetown, Texas; sister-in-laws Marrianne and Corrine. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Laura Miller and brothers Donald and Eldon Miller.
