Bernard’s Obituary Bernard Peter Gosselin, 76, of Kingston, NH and formerly of Haverhill, MA died Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Lawrence General Hospital. Bernie (also known as Pete by many) was born in Merrimac, MA on April 4, 1942 to the late Arthur and Naomie (LaBrie) Gosselin. He attended St. James School and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1959.
He went to study mechanical engineering and machine processing at Wentworth Institute in Boston and graduated in 1961. After graduating he worked as a tool designer at Electronics Corporation of America in Cambridge. He then worked as a General Foreman for Transitron Electronic Corporation.
In 1972 he found his career job at M/A-COM (TYCO) corporation in Burlington, as a manufacturer manager. He served as president of the M/A-COM Management Association for many years. He retired from M/A-COM in 1998 and went on to work as the Chief Engineer at the Best Western Merrimack Valley in Haverhill and was presently employed until his death.
Bernie was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6617 and served as a past Grand Knight for 2 terms – at Council 7097. He was also a member of the Haverhill’s Musician Union. He loved to play the drums with area musicians.
He and his brother Paul entertained many throughout the Merrimack Valley as “The Peter Paul Trio”. Bernard and his friends created a band The Generation Gap and played top 40’s music at multiple weddings and functions. Bernie met Beverly (Cadorette), the love of his life at a YMCA dance.
Their skills won many dance competitions. They married and had four children that they raised in Haverhill, MA. His family and faith were the focus of his life.
He was an active member of Saint Luke The Evangelist Parish in Plaistow, NH where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. As a father, he devoted his time to his children; Bernie was a Scout Master of Troop 27 in Haverhill. He loved to teach and mentor his sons and other scouts on the knowledge of the outdoors.
He was a proud “Pepe” of nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren whom he adored spending time with. He also involved his grandchildren with his passion for community volunteering at Red Cross Blood Drives and Tootsie Roll fund raisers. He loved camping, fishing, and boating and in 1981 bought a camp on Country Pond in Kingston which later became the family home.
Dad was the life of the party. He enjoyed seeing others enjoy themselves. He wanted everyone to feel welcomed and special when they came to the lake.
Family and friends would gather for many celebrations and holidays – whether it was waterskiing, fishing and skating on the ice, hockey games, pig roasts or cookouts. He would love to end the day by sitting around the campfire next to the lake with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Beverly of Kingston, NH; sons, Mark and his wife Roselle of Haverhill, MA, Neal and his wife Robin of Sandown, NH; daughters, Pamela Janackas and her husband Peter of Haverhill, MA, Renee Duchemin and her husband Dan of Haverhill; sister, Clair and her late husband Frederick Duffy of Marshfield, MA, brother, Paul and his wife Margaret of Haverhill, MA, sister, Audrey Spinazola of Haverhill, MA; nine grandchildren, Peter, Mindy, April, Alexis, Rachel, Marinna, David, Kyle and Elizabeth; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Lila and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his loyal canine friend Sandi. He was preceded by his infant daughter Kimberly. Visitation will be Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 3:00 – 8:00pm at the St. Luke the Evangelist at Holy Angels, 8 Atkinson Depot Rd, Plaistow, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Luke the Evangelist at Holy Angels. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery, 41 John Ward Ave. , Haverhill, MA.
