Obituary for Berni Helen Becker Bernadine “Berni” Helen Becker died peacefully of natural causes surrounded by family on May 23, 2018 at Brookdale in Newberg, OR at the age of 95. Born to John & Anna Baldy on November 10, 1922 in Morris, Minnesota and grew up with a sister, Doris, and 2 brothers, Lawrence & Clarence while her father worked for the railroad. In 1945, she moved to Sherwood, Oregon following her marriage to Paul Selden after his return from WWII where he served as an Army Air Corps fighter pilot.

They raised four children while building 2 family businesses. In 1962 while her oldest two children were attending Sherwood High School, she welcomed exchange student, Jolana Monteleoni into their home for 1 year followed by 56 years of friendship. Berni was the office manager of the family business, Sherwood Auto Parts and Sherwood Equipment for 30 years.

After retiring to live in Wilsonville, OR in the early 1980s, Mrs. Becker and her husband, Don, were snow-birds and traveled to Mesa, AZ for 10 winters. There she was a member of the Spanish Club, as well as a member of the tap dance group The Prancin’ Grannies for 9 years. Additionally, she was an active volunteer of the Wilsonville Senior Center for 17 years, serving as Hostess, Advisory Board member, Wilsonville Senior Chorus member and served on numerous committees.

Berni was preceded in death by her husband, Don. She is survived by her sister, Doris Thompson of Olympia, WA, three daughters and their husbands: Diane & Glenn Ferris of Newberg, OR; Trudi & Mark Krajewski of Beaverton, OR; Janelle & Bob Ouellette of Ormond Beach, FL; plus son James & Ginger Selden of Newberg, OR; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Attrell’s Funeral Chapel in Newberg, OR on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 1pm in the afternoon.

Private interment will in Belle Passi Mausoleum in Woodburn, OR following the service. Remembrances may be made to the Wilsonville Community Center or to a favorite charity. Previous Events Funeral 2018 MAY 30.
