OBITUARY Bertha Josephine Pakaski May 20, 1920 – October 23, 2018 Bertha was born in Phoenix, AZ and attended school there, graduating from high school at 18. In 1943 she married Samuel H. Myers (Army Air Corp). In 1944 she gave birth to her son, Samuel.

After her husband’s death, she moved to Oceanside in 1946 with her parents, John and Eleanor Angelo. There she and her son lived with them where her father established Angelo Cabinet Shop on So. Hill St. They lived in an apartment home above the cabinet shop.

By the late ‘40s, Bertha obtained a job at Pacific Telephone. In 1957 the Shop was sold and they all moved to a home on South Ditmar St. Bertha re-married in 1959, transferring her job in 1961 to Costa Mesa, where she lived until 2010. She retired from Pacific Bell in 1985 to care for her father in her home in Costa Mesa.

She held many titles in the Costa Mesa chapter of Eastern Star, rising to become Worthy Matron of that chapter for one year. After that she held the respected title of Past Matron. In addition to her son, Samuel, Bertha is survived by a daughter-in-law (Colleen) Sue; two grandchildren, Maggie and John; and two great- grandchildren, Eveline and Tatiane.

Her graveside service will be on Friday, November 16 at noon in the Acacia section of Eternal Hills Cemetery, Oceanside, CA. Afterwards a lunch reception will be held at Jolly Roger restaurant at the Oceanside Harbor.
