Bertha’s Obituary Bertha M. (Speelman) Pauley, 92 of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the York Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Elmer E. Pauley who passed away in 1995; together they shared 40 years of marriage. Born November 15, 1926 in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Gladys (Kump) Speelman.

Bertha enjoyed spending her time gardening and admiring flowers. For quite some time, she also enjoyed to bowl and was even a member of a league. Bertha loved animals, one of which was her faithful and four-legged friend, Midas.

Among many of these wonderful things, she also received great joy when cooking. Bertha is survived by her two sons, James G. Pauley and his companion Barb Moul of Spring Grove, Michael R. Pauley and his wife Charlotte of Hanover; five grandchildren, Kevin Myers, Glen R. Myers, Jr. and wife Holly, Keith Myers, Melinda Jesse and husband Sanford, Melody “Midge” Curnutte and husband Ken; two step grandchildren, Nicholas Oyler and Kelsey Oyler-Moore; 17 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, including a little one on the way. In addition to her parents and husband, Bertha was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Myers; three sisters, Ester “Dud” Speelman, Evelyn “Teen” Straley, Betty J. Millheims; two brothers, Luther “Juney” Speelman and Glenn Speelman.

A service to celebrate the life of Bertha will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with John Wright officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.

Pallbearers will be; Michael R. Pauley, Kevin Myers, JR Myers, Keith Myers, Bob Wilson, Ken Curnett, and Cole Myers. A luncheon will be held at Dutch Country, 946 Baltimore St, Hanover, PA 17331 following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
