A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Beryl Anita Streets, of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Friday, July 20th, 10:00 a.m. at St. John Progressive M.B. Church, 2504 E. Chipco Street, Tampa, FL 33605, Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Beryl Anita Streets was a special gem who proclaimed her greatness even at birth. She arrived Friday February 8, 1957 on her mother’s 22nd birthday, foreshadowing the bold and courageous life ahead of her. Born and raised in Tampa, Florida Beryl carried out her life in her home city.
She graduated high school from Brandon High school. She was employed with the the Hillsborough County Public School district, where she served over 30 years as a cafeteria employee before retiring. Beryl was a devout member of True Vision of Jesus Christ, under the ordained leadership of her beloved Pastor Coley and Evelyn Standifer.
A servant at heart, Beryl extended her love as a foster parent and home daycare instructor, weaving each child into her family, she was known by many as “Grandma Beryl”. Predestined a matriarch, Beryl gave birth to three generations. She is a mother who worked hard, a grandmother who loved hard, and a great-grandmother who spoiled hard.
Her family could count on her to make last minute cook-out arrangements with her famous potato salad, have a variety of snacks at her house for her grandbabies, and forcing them on early morning flea market and fishing trips. Beryl a woman of God, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a friend. A woman of small stature, who made a massive impact on all she knew and encountered.
Beryl is preceded in death by her parents, Mother Vera Nash Floyd and George Huff, Sr.; brothers, Renardo Nash Sr. and George Huff, Jr.; sisters, Delois Huff and Bettye Johnson. Cherishing her memories her children: James Johnson, Jr. (Tameka), Michael Johnson, Sr. (Fatangela), Reginald Johnson (Arlisia), Cory Streets Sr. (Bathsheba), Jherrica Huff, and Rayfield Johnson; brothers: Reginald Huff and Michael Jenkins; sisters, Theresa Johnson, Michelle Whitfield (Mark), Betty Coleman, Cynthia Huff, and Lutricia Monroe; godsisters, Diane Mills and Debra Jones; uncle, John Nash; 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; special friends, Brenda Edwards, Lucinda, Lisa, Elizabeth Garrett: Beryl has a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from the Baker, Kendrick, Nash, Mills, Gowens, Gaines, and Streets families whom she cherished and loved dearly. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home on Friday, July 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm.
The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
