April 26, 1941 – May 1, 2019 Beryl was born in Duchesne, Utah to Weston Bates and Rachel Droubay. She graduated Highland Highschool in 1959. She attended Stevens-Henager College in 1961.

And later attended BYU College of Nursing where she graduated in 1971. She chose to move to Las Vegas with her late Husband who was a Professor of International Business in Economics and Marketing. There she worked at Nathan Adelson Hospice where she was an R.N. and Director of In-House and Home Care for 25 years.

She retired and returned to Utah to be with her sisters. Beryl loved her nursing career. She had a love for people and was a natural care giver.

Her love for nursing brought her to Hospice where she was instrumental in separating and administering terminal care from inside hospitals to separate facilities. She gave lectures all over the world, teaching others how to improve hospice care for the terminally ill. She is beloved by all of her family and will always be remembered by her generous and compassionate spirit.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Brother David W. Bates and twin sister Meryl Bates Casto. She is survived by Sister Jane Bates Moore. Daughters Corale (Mitchell) Pinney Madden and Elizabeth Pinney Cross.

Grandchildren Kaddie Nicole Madden, Saylor Cynthia Madden, Mitchell Judge Madden, Ashley Brianna Casto, Bethanie Daniels, Marlee Casto, RJ Casto and Emma Casto. A memorial service will take place Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2PM at the LDS 6th Ward located at 8171 South Jackson Street, Midvale, Utah 84047. Interment will take place next to Beryl’s family at the Tooele City Cemetery at a later date.
