Obituary for Mrs. Bessie Jenkins Trice Mrs. Bessie Jenkins Trice, born December 11, 1920, Durham, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Luther (Doc) and Viola Burton Jenkins, died July 5, 2018. Mrs. Trice grew up in the East Durham community, attended Durham Public Schools and was a graduate of Hillside High School. She worked in Richmond, Virginia for many years before returning to Durham.

Surviving relatives include seven nieces; Sherry, Gaytheia, Cherylette, Kathy, Aleta, Bernitha and Jennifer; four nephews; Dwayne, Myron, James, Jr., and Jerel; a sister-in-law, Leola Hall Jenkins; a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, left to mourn her loss are members of her extended families who she spent the majority of her time with upon returning to Durham. The family of Jean and Mack O’Barr, their children, Emily and Claire, and grandchildren, Chelsea, Felix, Grace and Andrew; the family of Carol and Curt Richardson, and their children John and Suzanne; grandchildren, Lola and Niley; and George and Elizabeth Draper, their children, Ryan, Whitney and Kendall.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Pete, Lattis, James and Chester Jenkins; sisters, Estell Trice and Ardelia Jenkins Council. Many heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff and residents of Camillia Garden Assisted Living Center. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Scarborough & Hargett Celebration of Life Center, Inc., 309 N Queen Street, Durham, N.C. 27701.
