Bessie Sullivan, 96, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday September 11, 2018 at the Oaks Nursing Center in New Bedford. She was born on December 14, 1921 and was a life long resident of New Bedford. Bessie was a WWII veteran, serving as a WAVE in the United States Navy.

She was employed by Hemingway Transport of New Bedford for many years. After retirement she worked at several part time clerical positions through Coastline Elderly Services. Bessie is survived by her daughter, Lisa and her husband Chris Dutra of Abington, MA; 4 grandsons Christopher, Sean, Brian and Gary Dutra; 1 great-grandson Jordan Lucas Dutra.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 9 a.m. at MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington Street, Whitman, MA. A funeral service will be held at 10 following visitation. Burial will follow at Acushnet Cemetery, 91 Main Street, Acushnet, MA.
