On December 18, 2018 Betty Jean Marz Brown completed her earthly mission and returned to her Heavenly Home. Betty was born on September 18, 1932 to William John Marz and Ida Elizabeth Altenburger Marz in Salt Lake City, Utah. Betty lost her mother when she was just 10 years old and we are grateful for the knowledge that they are together once again.

She was raised in Salt Lake City and learned the value of hard work as she helped her father in his dry-cleaning business in her younger years. Mom worked hard at everything she did, whether it was her spotless home, her pure white laundry, her amazing cooking (lemon pies or homemade cinnamon rolls) or just being the best wife, mother, and grandma, anyone could ever ask for. Betty retired from the Morgan County School District after 22 years of service.

The happiest times of Betty’s life was when she was serving the Lord, as a missionary, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in Germany as a young single woman, where she met the love of her life, Maurell Dee Brown. They were married on July 9, 1958 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Later in life, they were able to serve in Chesterfield, ID and in the Cove Fort, UT mission together, which they loved. Betty also served in several church callings throughout her life, which she was always willing to do. She had a strong testimony of the Savior and loved reading her scriptures and was still studying them in German, up until the end.

Maurell and Betty moved to Morgan in 1963 where they built their home and raised their family. Life in Morgan was always good. Christmas was always her favorite and before she passed, she made sure her “envelopes” were passed out to her family members.

Christmas will never be the same. Betty is survived by her daughter, Debbie (John) Weaver, Manila, UT, Son, Richard (Jana) Brown, Morgan, UT and daughter-in-law, Gerri Lynne Brown, Ogden, UT; Grandchildren, Brianne, Heidi, Kyle, NaShae, Travis, Nathan, Trey, and Braden and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Maurell Dee Brown, and her son, William Dee Brown.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 22, at 12:00 noon at the Rock Church, 10 West Young Street. A viewing will be from 10:30 to 11:45 at the Rock Church prior to the services. Interment to follow at the South Morgan Cemetery.

The family would like to thank The Family Tree in Morgan, and Dr. Holland and Comfort WoRx hospice for the very special treatment that you have given to our mom for the past seven years. You have truly been angels on earth. She loves you all.

In lieu of flowers Mom lived her life in the service of others. As the Christmas season is upon us, we ask that you put a little more kindness in your heart and do something kind for someone in need or donate to the LDS missionary fund. Condolences may be shared at www.
