Betty Jane Jakovac March 24, 1933 – February 23, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Betty Jane Jakovac passed away on February 23, 2019 at the Meadows Assisted Living VCenter with family and friends by her side. Betty was born on March 24, 1933 in Minnesota to Robert and Evelyn Scollick. She spent part of her younger years in Minnesota until the family moved to Butte, Melrose, and Gilmore.

They then moved and settled in Salmon where Betty attended school through the tenth grade. She soon met the love of her life, William George Jakovac, and they were married on April 1, 1950. They made their home in Salmon where two children were born to this union, Patricia Rae (Jakovac) Edwards and Donald (Gloria) William Jakovac.

Betty also worked several odd jobs during her life such as harvesting potatoes in the fall, retail clerk at dress shops, and cooking for the US Forest fire crews until they closed the kitchen. She also had quite the green thumb and enjoyed raising a garden and flowers. She enjoyed several hobbies including knitting and sewing for her family.

She also loved to travel and see new places with her family and friends. She traveled to Hawaii a couple of times and went on a couple cruises. It never took her long to pack her bags when someone suggested a trip.

She also enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several card clubs. Betty loved spending time with her family and friends, going on picnics, fishing, backyard barbeques, camping in the summer, and family reunions. She rarely missed meeting the girls every Friday night at the Elks to visit and share a laugh or two.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jacovac; her parents Robert and Evelyn Scollick, her brother Robbie and sister Gwendolyn. She is survived by her children Patricia Rae Edwards, Boise and Donald (Gloria) Jakovac, Salmon; grandchildren, Mike (Wendy) Edwards, Jackson and Daniel, Boise; Corey (Mandy) Edwards, Morgan, Taelyn and Jorden, Boise; Samantha (Eric) Reed and Gabrielle, California, Maryland; Her sister Roberta Goodman, Salmon, and brother Thomas (Grace) Scollick of the Philippines; sisters-in-law Phyllis Jakovac, Helena, Montana and Anita McFarland, Carmen, Idaho ,and numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Betty’s name to the Steele Memorial Foundation, towards a charity of your choice.
