Obituary for Betty Jane Mason (Berns) Betty Jane Mason, 92, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on February 15, 2019. She was born in Bloomington, IN, December 6, 1926, the 4th of eight children. She transplanted to Las Cruces, in 1974, where she could enjoy the mountains and beautiful sunsets.

She alternated between being a nurse and pilot car driver most of her life. She inspired her children by living life to its fullest, and always working hard, retiring at 87. She loved all things nature, especially animals, a good true-crime book, weekends at the lake, challenging crossword puzzles and shopping.

She made the best mashed potatoes to complement her homemade egg noodles, which were always a part of holiday meals. Betty is survived by 6 children, Mary Ann Vance, Gary Stoner, Shirley Hagerman, Gayle Garcia, Bonnie Rinkels and Shana Mason. She had thirteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson.

She left an indelible mark on us all and will be forever missed. Burial service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Saturday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. To send flowers to the family of Betty Jane Mason (Berns), please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
