Obituary for Betty Jean Bauer Betty Jean Bauer, 97, of Traverse City passed away September 14, 2018 at Medilodge. Betty was born on February 17, 1921 in Muskegon to the late Herman E. and Etelka (Mebert) Dunklow. On September 14, 1946 Betty married the love of her life, Eugene L. Bauer in Leland.

Betty was a receptionist at Dr. Johnson and Dr. Dorman’s office for over 25 years. She then went on to work on Dr. Klinglesmith and Dr. Bannow’s office for over 15 years. She was a longtime member of the Leland Community United Methodist Church and was a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild at Central United Methodist Church.

Betty was also a former member of the Osteopathic Hospital Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed going on car rides and traveling. In her younger years she also liked to cook and bake.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, sister Kathryn Holden and nephew Gary Baker. Betty is survived by her daughter Joyce (John) Markl; grandson William L. Gren and great granddaughter Katherine Gren. Per Betty’s wishes, no services will take place and she will be laid to rest at the Beechwood Cemetery in Leland.
