Betty Ellis, 77, of Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in a Lubbock hospital. A Home going Celebration for Betty will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Stamford. Betty was born to the parentage of Elsie Clark and Katherine Hammond Clark on December 30, 1940 in Coolidge, Texas.

Betty married Willie Tyler, Sr. and they moved to Roswell to join her family. At one time, Betty lived with her sister Gracie in Seaside, California. Around 1967-68, she and her children moved to Dallas as her children were growing up.

She worked at numerous nursing homes as a nurses aide, and for the Dallas school district as a cook and baker. She also lived in Wichita Falls for a time and worked at similar jobs. Betty moved back to Stamford and married A.C. Ellis and they made their home in Plainview, where they attending the New Fellowship Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Jennings.

One of her favorite songs was one that Pastor Jennings sang – One More Sunny Day. Prior to Mr. Ellis’ passing, they returned once again to Stamford, but remained a faithful member of New Fellowship Baptist Church, sending her tithes and offerings until her passing. Throughout her life, as she had been introduced to Christ and accepted him at an early age, she became active in many churches and was always on fire for Christ as a willing worker.

She was well known for stirring things up as she spoke. She was very vital in fundraising with her baked goods and that was the way she could promote and support any church. Known as Aunt Betty to many and strived to uplift and encourage everyone.

While she was able, she attended all family functions, and stayed in touch with her family and friends. She was loved and will be missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A.C. Ellis; sister, Juanita Giddings, Mary Garrett, Ruth Williams (Mamie); and brothers, Jack Clark, Elsie Clark, Jr. Survivors left to cherish her memory are her three children, Evelyn Bush of Sacramento, CA; Charles Tyler of Stamford, Willie Tyler, Jr. (Poochie) of Stamford; sister, Gracie Clark of Seaside, CA; brothers, Jimmy Lee Clark of Wichita Falls, Charles Clark (Ray Ray) of Dallas, Wendell Clark (Shirley) of College Station; grandchildren, Gary Tyler, Latasha Clark, Quincy Moreland (Felicia); great grandchildren, Shacorya Kelly, Sean Kelly, Mickale, Marion, Elijah Moreland; great great grandchild, Angello Sanchez, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
