Betty’s Obituary Betty Blodgett, 88, of Queen City passed away Monday (May 13, 2019) in the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Mo. The daughter of James and Dolly (Myles) Main she was born June 6, 1930 in Adel, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in the Adel area, graduating from Rockwell City High School with the class of 1948.

On December 27, 1963. she was united in marriage to Richard Blodgett and together they raised eight children. Betty is survived by children Pamela Harvey and husband Harold of Worthington, Mo.

, James Carolus and wife Laurie of Des Moines, Ia. , Sherry Slaughter and husband Ronnie of Queen City, Mo. , and Robert Carolus and wife Tina of Miami, Oklahoma, Ethlyn Thomas of Des Moines, Ia.

, Melvin Blodgett and wife Mickey of Des Moines, Ia. , Evelyn Jerde and husband Dennis of Des Moines, Ia and Richard J. Blodgett of Des Moines, Ia. , nine grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Betty is also survived by three sisters; Donna Schwab and husband Don of Laguna, Ca. , Virginia Nichols and husband Mike of Saginaw, TX, and Judy Berenking and husband Phil of Mission Viejo, Ca. , and a sister-in-law Lillie Elsea of St Charles, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, brother Charles Main, sisters Pat Hardan and Joyce Woodley, and a grandson Keith Allen Carolus. Betty and Richard lived in Iowa for the first ten years of their marriage and Betty worked for General Casuailty Life Insurance Co. In 1973 they moved to Worthington, Missouri and Betty worked at Hollisters for one year and then went to work at Burroughs where she worked until her retirement. After her retirement they moved to Queen City.

She was a member of the Methodist Church. Betty loved being with her family. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, knitting, and needlepoint.

She also really enjoyed visiting with her coffee club friends. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday (May 17, 2019) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Bushnell officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Home Cemetery.
