Betty’s Obituary Mrs. Betty Lee Spears Lewis, 84, widow of Clifton Hugh Lewis, died Thursday, May 16, 2019 at MUSC-Marion Medical Center after an illness. Mrs. Lewis was born December 12, 1934 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Jim Thomas Spears and the late Annie Gore Spears. She had retired as a salesclerk from B.C. Moores.

Mrs. Lewis was a member of Gapway Baptist Church, where she was a Vacation Bible School worker for many years and a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. Surviving Mrs. Lewis are: a Son: Wayne (Merle Ann) Lewis of Mullins; her Grandchildren: Thomas Hugh (Katie) Lewis, Jr. of Mullins, Heather (Alex) Small of Marion, Shelly (Bobby) Congdon of Seneca and Stan (Lauren) Sawyer of Charlotte, NC; her Great Grandchildren: Riley Lewis, Alayna Small, Lillie Small, Carson Small, Karley Small, Cara Congdon, Sawyer Congdon, Jack Sawyer and Boone Sawyer; 3 Nieces: Wanda McConkey, Pam Anderson and Nancy Best, all of Mullins; and a Special Friend: Faye Smith of Rains. Mrs. Lewis was predeceased by a son, Thomas Hugh “Tommy” Lewis.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, May 18, from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Stephen D. Bailey and Rev.

Chips Scruggs officiating. Burial will be in Gapway Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
